Warning: Cheesy Metaphor Ahead

I've been swimming laps a lot lately. It's great exercise and, more importantly, it's quiet time to myself. There is something so fun about floating around in the water. Plus, I hate the repetition of lifting weights and I hate, hate, hate sweating.

You know when you're about to dive into a pool, you have that moment where you suck in a last breath? That's what I feel like now getting ready to do IVF. There's so much that will happen quickly in the next few weeks but I'm at the point where I'm just waiting for it all to start.

I got my period yesterday and will have a FSH blood test tomorrow morning. Then I go back to the main office on the 12th for scans, blood work, and paper work. Assuming everything looks good, I'll start the Lupron around July 23. I'm disappointed because I thought I'd start the meds in the next week or so. I didn't realize they still had more blood tests to do. If I had known, I would have tried to get that all taken care of last cycle but I guess you can only plan so far ahead.

  1. Oh that sucks that you have to wait until July! Well, maybe it will take a little longer, but what's another month in the grand scheme of things? I know, it's torture - but keep swimming - at some point you'll get there!

  2. That stinks that you have to wait even more. I hate the waiting and am losing my patience!

I love swimming laps and really need to get back into that. It is such great exercise and good thinking time. You've inspired me to go tomorrow!

I hope the time passes quickly.

  3. Ahh, I love swimming! Definitely my favorite form of exercise... just wish I didn't belong to a gym that consistently screws up the chemicals in there (has killed my hair and a few swimsuits thus far, and scared me away forever!). Glad to hear you're pursuing a healthy body thru swimming.

THe waiting game--man, nothing else will prey on your mind like it, right? So sorry that you don't get to move forward with things this month. Pray that you'll have too many fun things to do for the next several weeks to take your mind off it, and enjoy yourself in the meantime...

  4. Here from ICLW! Waiting does suck but at least there is a plan in place and your ready to move forward. I am starting to try and wrap my brain around IVF- not something I thought I would be thinking of a year and a half ago!

  6. I'm sorry that you've got a little bit more waiting ahead of you, but you're so close, the time will pass quickly. I liked the swimming metaphor - Maybe what I need right now is some good quality time with the pool.

  7. Here from ICLW. I hope this IVF is the answer for you. I'm about to try it, too, thanks to secondary infertility (endometriosis) and years of difficult losses. I'll be following your journey and hoping we both get good news.

  10. Hey sweets....I start my Lu.pron injections July 9 and stims on the 20th. We're close to each other in cycle. I was supposed to start a couple weeks ago, but had a setback. I'm on my 4th week of active BCP and omg, do my BBS hurt!!! LOL. Good luck with all of your tests and what not. Get ready for dildo-cam insanity!

  11. ahh the waiting is just the worst part of IF (in my experience) and I too adore the feeling of laying in the pool. I used to reward myself with laps after each workout because I hated working out so much, but i did it, knowing I'd soon be in the pool!

Thinking of you, hope all goes smoothly with your cycle :)

  14. I love swimming. I wish we had a pool. In the winter we had a membership to an indoor pool for a couple months and it was really nice. I wish we could afford to renew.

    Good luck with IVF!
